We come from the same place and all return there. That’s about as connected as you can be. And yet while we are corporeal, it seems impossible to get along. In fact we seem to be getting better at not getting along. A sad state of affairs.
I do think that Biden and Blinken are the voice of reason to some extent, in pursuing a humanitarian pause and looking to a two-state solution, elusive as that has been. They and maybe Macron are pushing back against Netanyahu to the extent they can. As usual, college campuses are where the issues are being hashed out, too, not always with nuance but at least some "discussion" if only in the form of competing protests/vigils. These are faint hopes. Our minister explained Christian Zionism today, an alarming "ism."
I need to learn more about Christian Zionism, Judy -- I have been startled by how rigid some on the Christian right seem, as though the suffering of anybody in the Mideast who isn't Jewish is less worthy of our care. It's such a difficult situation, but I'm grateful this didn't happen in, say, 2019, when the key roles in Washington were in unstable hands.

Yes, stability has advantages.
