Spot on. After the giddiness of “we made it through alive” will come the realization of the continuing presence of deep, untreated wounds. That NY Dems fared so poorly in contested races is a troubling reality. The center held the power. There’s a lesson in that.

An excellent corrective to the Democratic euphoria after the elections. Pundits have been saying for 6 years after every Trump misstep, including lying, treason, causing unnecessary death (Covid), sexual assault, paying off prostitutes, demeaning Senator McCain, mocking cripples — oh, he’s finished this time. Trump is never finished. When he is indicted (hopefully) he will be stronger. What the mid-terms did is produce, finally, a list of potentially strong leaders for the future of the democrats and democracy: Gretchen Witmer, Adam Frisch, Wes Moore, Hillary Schlotkin, Tim Ryan, Josh Schapiro, Mark Kelly, and others including some smart and honest Secs of State. That’s what we needed.
